Your role as an independent Non-Executive Director is crucial in supporting Oldham Active’s vision to inspire people to lead active, healthy lives and role model in line with our company values.

We are responsible for managing the Council’s leisure facilities and spearheading a variety of initiatives to encourage healthier lifestyles in and around Oldham.
Following retirements from existing members, we are seeking three experienced individuals who will undertake the role of:
- x2 Co-opted Directors
- x1 Community Director
To complement our existing Board membership, we are looking for individuals who work with or have links to young people and those who can support us in improving diversity across the organisation. We require these individuals to act with positivity to promote the success of the company whilst exercising independent judgment, skill and diligence.
We would particularly like to hear from you if you have links to or live in the borough of Oldham and have a genuine interest in leisure activities and promoting healthy lifestyles.
The roles are non-remunerated, but you will support on playing a key role in improving the leisure provision in the town.

Directors will support the company in determining and monitoring progress of the strategic objectives and policies, as well as accounting for the company’s activities.
The Board meet quarterly, usually on an evening and there will be requirements for support outside of the meetings which may take the form of attending meetings, events or involvement in special projects or input or leading the Subcommittees in place.
Co-opted Director
Co-opted Directors are selected for their skills and/or experience and shall serve a fixed period determined by the Board of Directors at the time of the co-option which is subject to a review at least every 12 months, usually at the Annual General Meeting each September.
Community Director
Community Directors may serve on the Board for a three-year period at which point they can stand down or opt for re-election. The maximum term is three terms of three years. Community Directors are required to become Shareholders of the Society, and their shareholding ends when the role of Director ends and does not continue indefinitely.
