The overflow car park at Byron Street School is no longer available to Oldham Active. Please note that any customers parking here may incur a fine. However, there are new parking facilities opposite to this car park, with a maximum stay of 3 hours.

With over £8 million invested and a long term plan to deliver excellence in sports and fitness, Royton Leisure Centre will become a central hub for adults and children of all ages and abilities, providing better and more tailored exercise and leisure facilities than ever before.

Offering brand new facilities that are second to none in the area, Royton has a state of the art 80 station gym with equipment that has in-built entertainment systems plus health monitoring functions and more interactive ways to enjoy your workout. Our dedicated spin studio offers latest generation spin bikes plus sound responsive disco lighting adding atmosphere and intensity to every workout.

Royton’s two studios also mean that members can take part in some of the latest and most popular exercise classes, including Zumba, Bodytone, Pilates, Les Mills, Yoga, and many more. For those who love to swim, it’s the perfect place to enjoy our 25 metre, 6 lane pool and separate learner pool, both offering daily classes, public swim, and specialist sessions all year round. The centre also provides free parking for members and a refreshment lounge to relax in. The all new Royton Leisure Centre signifies an exciting shift in leisure facilities for Royton, Shaw, Crompton & Oldham.

Facilities at Royton Leisure Centre

GYM

The state of the art gym boasts 80 workout stations, providing a large range of cardio and resistance training equipment for our members, as well as a superb collection of free weights and designated zones for warm up and warm down. The new gym uses leading cardio and resistance equipment from Technogym, featuring popular machines such as bikes and Run Now treadmills, which have a cushioned surface for a more natural running sensation.

The equipment can be used with the Apple and Android App MYWELLNESS®, which enables members to access their fitness data, personalised programme, and favourite videos on the integrated TVs.

CLASSES

With two stunning and spacious exercise studios and a fantastic spinning studio, classes at the new Royton Leisure Centre are sure to be popular with our members. Covering all types of exercise classes from Aerobics, Legs, Bums & Tums and Circuit, right through to the exciting new Les Mills classes, you’re sure to find the right class for your interest and level of fitness. Our fantastic new exercise and spin studios mean we’re now able to offer more classes and a wider range of activities than any other provider in the local area.

SWIM

The six lane, 25 metre pool will provide a large and modern environment for our members, offering a wider range of swimming and aquatic classes, activities, and sessions. The centre also has a separate learner pool, enabling children and complete beginners to swim in a more comfortable environment and improve their ability and strength of swimming more quickly.

With temperature control and a unique heating and filtering system, users of our new pool can expect a comfortable, relaxed, and pleasant environment at all times.

The new centre has a 60 space car park and is free for visitors.

We have a selection of vending machines and a comfortable refreshments lounge for visitors to relax in.
