This role is working for Wellbeing Leisure which is a subsidiary company of OCL. The role will be Oldham based, across various Community Settings and OCL sites

The project aims to help residents to lead healthier lives and to help community groups and community centres develop and promote their health-based programmes and interventions.

The role requires someone with a genuine passion for creating and connecting links between community groups, activity providers and members of the public whilst encouraging individuals to take up new activities.

There will also be a requirement for work including marketing, engagement and goal setting.

Applicants are required to have previous experience of working with individuals with regards to lifestyle changes and the benefits of health interventions linked to this. It is desirable that applicants will hold an Exercise Referral qualification but support can be given to successful candidates to achieve this.

This position is a 3 year fixed term contract, linked to the funding of the project; however it is hoped that the position may be extended or become sustainable in the future.

The hours of work available range from 18 to 36 per week and may be awarded to one of more individuals, but will need to be worked on a flexible basis to meet the needs of the scheme and the business. This may include evening and weekend work at times.

The salary for the role is £19,000 – £20,854 per year (pro-rata dependent on number of hours worked). This is a consolidated rate of pay and covers all hours worked.

Job description/ person specification 015 – Customer Contact Team Representative

Oldham Community Leisure Limited (OCLL) is looking for experienced leisure professionals to join the Customer Service Team.The Customer Service Team Representatives will be the interface between OCLL and the customer, acting as a company’s first point of contact and advising the customer on our range of products and services.

The Customer Service Team will be predominantly office based at Chadderton Wellbeing Centre and will encompass a range of Customer-oriented tasks, including handling complaints about a product or service, handling enquiries and bookings, inputting data, social media management, administrative duties and providing customers with information. The team will work to resolve all customer issues within a single contact, where possible, and be proactive in their approach to up-sell and promote our products wherever possible.

From time to time, the Customer Service Team will also be expected to support and participate in outreach events in the wider community.The successful applicant should hold an NVQ Level 2 in a related area, plus have excellent customer care, communication skills and work with enthusiasm and a “can do” attitude.

The rate of pay for the role is Band 6, points 17 – 19, which equates to a maximum of £19,000 per annum and will rise incrementally to £20,117 (pro-rata, based on 40 hrs). This is a consolidated rate of pay and covers all hours worked.

22 hours on average per week available. The Customer Service Team will work on a 4 week rota system, which will cover a range of hours including evenings and weekends. The Customer Service Team will be expected to work a share of the rota, including unsocial hours. Apprentice

Our team need you. We are looking to recruit 8 Apprentices to work at various OCL facilities including Chadderton, Failsworth, Oldham, Royton and Saddleworth. This is a great opportunity to earn whilst you learn, gaining a host of leisure related qualifications which can put you on your way to a fantastic career within this exciting and fast paced industry.

OCL are looking for superb team members who should have exceptional customer care skills and an infectious enthusiasm to provide the best possible standards of service to the Oldham community. We are looking for individuals who are representative of our local community and the customers who use our facilities.

The Trust’s mission is “A Community More Active, More Often”, and working in a customer facing role our Apprentices are key to this. The role of the Apprentice is to support the everyday running of the facility, ensuring that the best possible service is provided to each and every one of our customers.

The training provided may include First Aid at Work, Gym Instruction, Health and Safety, Manual Handling, Pool Lifeguard, Swim Teaching and Pool Plant Operations.

Individuals will be supported to achieve a National Vocational Qualification at Level 2 or 3, relevant key skills and also undergo in-house training.

There are currently various hours available and where possible there is flexibility to work around individual’s commitments and hours which will be discussed at interview. Hours may include evening and weekend work. The rate of pay for the role is a minimum of £117 per week, however there is the opportunity to pick up additional hours on a casual basis which are paid up to £8.21 per hour.

The role of Apprentice will occasionally require flexibility to work across various units and the place of work may be varied from time to time.

The Pool Lifeguard qualification is a requirement of the role and therefore will require successful candidates to be a strong swimmer and also have availability to attend the Pool Lifeguard training course running from the 22nd – 27th July 2019 at Royton Leisure Centre.

Can you support us as an independent Non-Executive Director in our mission to make Oldham ‘A Community, More Active, More Often’?We manage the Council’s leisure facilities on their behalf, as well as delivering on a wide range of initiatives to help encourage people to adopt healthier lifestyles in and around Oldham.

We are seeking to strengthen our team with an individual with significant financial expertise who will oversee our Finance and Audit Subcommittee in the role of Chair.

Directors will support the company in determining and monitoring progress of the strategic objectives and policies, as well as accounting for the company’s activities. The Board meet quarterly, usually on an evening and there will be requirements for support outside of the meetings which may take the form of attending meetings or involvement in special projects as well as leading the Subcommittee mentioned above.

We are looking for positive individuals who will act to promote the success of the company whilst exercising independent judgment, skill and diligence.

We would particularly like to hear from you if you have links to or live in the borough of Oldham and have a genuine interest in leisure activities and promoting healthy lifestyles.

Do you have what it takes to be part of the team and to provide a first class customer service across swimming lessons within the OCL group?

Due to the hours available and the training provided, this role would be particularly suitable for those wanting to work on a part time basis around other commitments such as college, university, child care or other work commitments. Full training will be provided, commitment and the right attitude is all you require.

There are two roles available, Assistant where you will be in the water supporting participants and a teacher from the side of the pool, this is ideal for new and inexperienced teachers to gain experience. Teachers are on the side of the pool and will lead the lesson, this will require a higher level qualification but full support can be given to achieve this. The rate of pay for a contracted Assistant is £7.58 per hour for under 21’s. For those aged 21-24 is £7.70 and 25and over  £8.21. The rate of pay for a Teacher is £10.91 per hour.

A requirement for the role is to hold a current STA or ASA Swim Teacher qualification as well as an STA Safety Award for Teachers (SAT) or STA Pool Lifeguard (PLG) qualification. You will also be required to attend training for one and a half hours on a monthly basis in order to keep this qualification current and two quarterly CPD’s which will also be available throughout the year.

The role of the Leisure Attendant is to undertake pool supervision, the safe erection and dismantling of sports equipment, dealing with customers, cash handling, reception duties, cleaning and housekeeping and general control of facilities and activities to a high level of customer satisfaction. You will oversee the general safety of the public and the facilities.

It is desirable that individuals should hold a current STA Pool Lifeguard qualification but is not essential as training can be provided. However, to achieve this qualification the ability to be able to swim will be required. A DBS check will be a requirement of the role.
